 Position Summary 

The Piling Superintendent is responsible for overseeing and managing all deep foundation operations on heavy civil and geotechnical construction projects. This role ensures that deep foundation activities are executed efficiently, safely, and in compliance with project specifications, company policies, and regulatory standards. The Piling Superintendent provides leadership, manages field crews, coordinates resources, and ensures quality execution to drive successful project completion. while embracing Forgen’s Core Values in everything they do.  

Forgen Deep Foundations Overview 

At Forgen, we deploy a wide range of deep foundation techniques, including driven piles of all types, drilled shafts, auger-cast/displacement piles, micropiles, secant/tangent piles, helical piles, stone columns, deep soil mixing and dynamic compaction. As a prime contractor or subcontractor, we offer customized solutions for material supply, installation, or full turnkey services, delivering high-quality results for ground improvement, excavation support, and complex foundation systems. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Direct and oversee all deep foundation operations, including driven piles of all types, drilled shafts, auger-cast/displacement piles, micropiles, secant/tangent piles, helical piles, stone columns, deep soil mixing, and dynamic compaction.
  • Develop and implement work plans, schedules, and safety procedures to meet project requirements.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to ensure alignment with project objectives.
  • Lead and mentor field supervisors, foremen, and crew members to enhance performance and efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and project-specific requirements.
  • Manage equipment utilization, maintenance, and procurement to optimize operational efficiency.
  • Monitor project progress, resolve issues, and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of project activities, workforce deployment, and material usage.
  • Oversee quality control and adherence to engineering specifications and industry best practices.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement among project teams. 

Basic Qualifications  

  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in piling or deep foundation construction.
  • At least 2 years of supervisory or foreman-level experience in the field.
  • Strong understanding of piling techniques, equipment, and safety procedures.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as required.
  • TWIC Card  

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience working in heavy civil, geotechnical, or marine construction projects.
  • NCCCO certification for crane or rigging operations.
  • Knowledge of geotechnical engineering principles related to deep foundations.
  • Familiarity with GPS or automated guidance systems for piling equipment.
  • The following safety training is preferred, but not mandatory. The company will provide additional training, as necessary.  
    • 40 Hour HAZWOPER training.  
    • Competent Person Safety Training  
    • 8-Hour Supervisory Training  
    • 30-Hour OSHA Construction Safety Training  
    • First Aid and CPR 

Physical Demands & Work Environment 

This role requires lifting up to 50 pounds, extended standing or walking on project sites, climbing in and out of equipment, and working in confined spaces or at heights. Work conditions and demands may vary, with possible exposure to heavy machinery, chemicals, dust, fumes, noise, and extreme weather. Proper PPE, including protective eyewear, gloves, a hard hat, and steel-toed boots, is required. Effective communication, tool use, and adherence to safety protocols are essential.
