Position Summary

Activities will include the operation of drill rigs, forklifts, loaders, dozers, skid steers, cleaning, fueling, greasing, preventative maintenance, and minor repairs to equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Mobilization in setting up drill rigs: directing drill rigs, cranes and tractor trailers to project sites when needed.
  • Drill Rigs include:
    • Bauer BG and RTG equipment
  • Types of Drilling:
    • Drilled displacement piles
    • Continuous flight auger piles
    • Partial displacement piles
    • Double rotary drilling
    • Secant piles
    • Drilled shafts
    • Continuous Soil Mixing
  • Fueling, greasing, and maintaining equipment.
  • Minor mechanic skills needed (changing oil, fuel filter, and changing hydraulic hoses).
  • Setting up drill areas, checking pile elevations, checking drill for plumb, and measuring offsets to confirm hole locations.
  • Rigging and setting casings and rebar cages plumb and on drilled pile location.
  • Operating heavy equipment forklift, skid steer etc.
  • Prepare daily drilling log reports if needed.
  • Perform and document daily pre-shift inspections.
  • Maintain a safe working environment and observe all safety procedures, laws, policies, and rules.
  • Communicate with equipment manager and field managers in a manner which promotes a positive relationship.
  • Work overtime as needed and within labor law guidelines.
  • Perform additional assignments and special projects as directed.

Basic Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • A minimum of five years of equipment operating experience.
  • A minimum of one year on the job training on heavy construction projects.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Forklift and excavation equipment training is preferred. 
  • TWIC card holder preferred.
  • The following safety training is preferred, but not mandatory. Company will provide additional training, as necessary.
    • 40 Hour HAZWOPER training
    • Competent Person Safety Training
    • 8-Hour Supervisory Training
    • 30-Hour OSHA Construction Safety Training
    • First Aid and CPR

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Mechanical skills preferred.
  • Must have basic computer skills.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to regional job sites, as needed.
  • Math and measurement skills.
  • Ability to embrace a culture of safety.
  • Experience working in an environment which demands outstanding safety performance a plus.
  • Ability to operate heavy power-driven equipment.
  • Ability to perform a variety of skilled construction and maintenance tasks.
  • Ability to perform a variety of manual tasks for extended periods in unfavorable weather conditions.
  • Ability to work on slopes and uneven surfaces.
  • Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to work extended hours, including evenings and weekends as required.
  • Highly motivated, with a demonstrated passion for excellence and taking initiative.
  • Strong work ethic, willing to do what it takes to get the job done right the first time.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ethics and integrity.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

This role requires lifting up to 50 pounds, extended standing or walking on project sites, climbing in and out of equipment, and working in confined spaces or at heights. Work conditions and demands may vary, with possible exposure to heavy machinery, chemicals, dust, fumes, noise, and extreme weather. Proper PPE, including protective eyewear, gloves, a hard hat, and steel-toed boots, is required. Effective communication, tool use, and adherence to safety protocols are essential.
