    February 17, 2025

L-5 Remnant Canal Improvement heavy civil construction project in southern Florida.

The South Florida Water Management District’s Central Everglades Planning Project (CEPP) North – L-5 Remnant Canal Improvement project is part of the CEPP North Phase and will help restore water flow and improve the environment across Broward and Palm Beach counties. This project includes expanding nearly 5.8 miles of the L-5 Remnant Canal to manage increased water flow from the STA-3/4 Discharge Canal. The enhancements will help restore natural water flow to critical Everglades areas, supporting the health of wetlands and wildlife. Additional improvements include constructing a new dredge materials management area, reinforcing canal berms, and replacing important monitoring equipment. Together, these upgrades will help ensure the Everglades continues to thrive for future generations.

Forgen construction company has been awarded this upcoming project, bringing its expertise in heavy civil construction and geotechnical construction to the forefront. This project is a significant example of how advanced construction techniques can enhance water flow management and support critical environmental restoration efforts across the Everglades ecosystem.

Stay tuned for more updates as Forgen begins work on this vital project in Spring 2025.
