Forgen Awarded Battle Creek Salmon and Steelhead Restoration Project

Forgen has been awarded the contract for the multi-year Battle Creek Salmon and Steelhead Restoration Project by the Bureau of Reclamation. The project is being completed in coordination with a California utility provider.


The Battle Creek conveyance system diverts water from the North and South Forks of Battle Creek, along with several tributaries and springs, through an interconnected system of natural and constructed waterways. Forgen’s scope of work covers five major locations within a five-mile stretch of the project. Key activities include the removal of three small dams, restoration of the stream channel to improve fish habitat, demolition of approximately 4 miles of water conveyance channel, demolition and removal of ~2300 LF of elevated metal flume, and installation of tunnel gates to create bat habitat, among other activities.
